Legacy

Results of the project will form a basis for assessing the regional response to climate variability and to identify its role in the Arctic Ocean as a whole, and possible couplings with the global climate system.

Several GPS buoys will be left in the area in order to follow the fate of the investigated ice host floes over the following year. It is the intention through close collaboration with the Satellite Eye initiative to establish a link to primary and secondary schools interested in using the Arctic as a theme in education in the coming years.
